Collecting Dust

So it certainly has been quite a while since I've updated this thing. I do have some future projects planned out (provided I can find the proper facilities to work in) however, at this point I will have to say that there will be a temporary hiatus.
School has started up again, hopefully some new opportunities will show themselves. All in due time!

Daniel, 2010

High fire stoneware,
oxides, glazes, and slip

Used a wash of iron and copper oxides,
followed by drips of shino and temoku.

The crack below the eye was not intentional, however I like
the way it turned out.

Kit Plate

Kit Plate 2010

A simple character I have been doodling since 2007.
A toothy feline critter of the eh.... saber variety?
Stencils, slips, and glaze.

New Stuff!

Bit of a delay eh?
Here are some new ones

Untitled 2010
This one is rather bulky

Peony, 2010

Plant Monster? perhaps...
I love using the Temoku glaze! Especially
since it breaks brown around the edges.
In retrospect, I Should have added glaze
to the bottom of this piece.

Quick Update!

I have a number of summer projects in the works, and will post some new pics later this week.

Zed

Stoneware, 2009
Raku fired

The head was made from additional scraps of some wire cut slabs which I
had initially planed on making into a teapot. The teapot failed miserably,
but thankfully the seams held well enough; allowing me to flip it upside down
and put it to some good use. The rest of the bust was hand built and slapped
together (rather haphazardly now that I think about it) however I am pleased with
how it all turned out.
Untitled, 2009
Stoneware, glazes and oxides

This little fellow was an attempt to make something more or less "cute".
The body and top of the head where thrown, rest of the pieces where hand built.

I like how the face turned out, although it kinda gives off an eerie
vibe. Perhaps next time I will make one with more expression
:P
