Raku fired

The head was made from additional scraps of some wire cut slabs which I
had initially planed on making into a teapot. The teapot failed miserably,
but thankfully the seams held well enough; allowing me to flip it upside down
and put it to some good use. The rest of the bust was hand built and slapped
together (rather haphazardly now that I think about it) however I am pleased with
how it all turned out.

This little fellow was an attempt to make something more or less "cute".
The body and top of the head where thrown, rest of the pieces where hand built.

I like how the face turned out, although it kinda gives off an eerie
vibe. Perhaps next time I will make one with more expression
:P

As with most of these sculptures, the initial concept was
born from shear happenstance. That and the prospect of a
duck smoking seemed like a neat idea. There are characters "ゆ" and
"め"on the side of the body brushed on with copper oxide.
Together it means "dream" in Japanese.
